General Santos City (ABSDAMAHAN’SLIVE-STREAM NEWS TV/ June 12, 2014) The programme of Independent Day 2014 in the City of General Santos has started at early dawn this morning at around 5:45 A. M. at Plaza Heneral Santos (Junction Pioneer-Pendatun Avenues) culminating the sequence of normal activities prepared by the City Government of General Santos such as: The traditional singing of the National Anthem, raising of the Philippine Flag, Wreath Laying and Twenty –one guns salute this was the highlights of the Kalayaan 2014 with the Theme: “Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago.”

Kalayaan 2014 celebration who led officially by no less than the City Mayor Ronnel Rivera of General Santos and other national line agencies who established offices here in GenSan, DepEd, Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) and local officials of the City government of GenSan and Barangay Officials. Of course the Independent Messages of the two city officials Mayor Ronnel  C. Rivera and Hon. Dominador S. Lagare III Acting Vice Mayor on the 116^th Anniversary Philippine Independent Day.  The two speakers remind for such true essence of core value and spirit of independent hard fought by our forefathers in the defense of our nation from foreign invaders. And this will translate and transform into progress and development for the entire nation building, go beyond our expectation for moral and spiritual recovery that address genuine change and reform in our system.

From the positive side on peace and order has improved and sustained over a couple of months passed PNP and other local law enforcers have responded to the calls of their duty, Mayor Rivera said, power shortage has been resolved by the power provider likes: SOCOTECO and Peak Power SOCSARGEN, Inc., to ease the power crisis in GEnSan. Projects on timelines as goes-on, Mayor Rivera said.

On the side of our 116^th Anniversary of Independent Day, the negative side is the labor dispute between the Citra Mina Group of Companies (CMGC) and United Workers of Citra Mina Group of Companies Union (UWCMGCU), came into the pictures conducted lite rally without permit from the Mayor’s Office in front of the Plaza Heneral Santos at the time of the program of the City government for Kalayaan 2014. Labor Union leaders expressed their grievances to Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), City Government of GenSan and more particular to the Owner and Management of Citra Mina Group of Companies for unfair labor practices and many others complaint to Citra Mina Company. The company response to labor union, In Re: Petition for Cancellation of Registration of Samahang United Workers of Citra Mina Group of Companies (UWCMGU). But on the course of action from DOLE labor-arbiter Atty. Maria Consuelo s. Bacay promulgated decision to: Petitioner-Appellee, Intervenors-Appellee and Respondent-Appellant.

Decision- This resolves the Motion for Consideration treated as an Appeal of the Samahang United Workers of Citra Mina Group of Companies Union (UWCMGCU) from the Order dated 19 February 2014 issued by DOLE Regional Office No. XII Director Ofelia B. Domingo, the dispositive portion of which reads:

WHEREFORE, premises considered, the petition and petition-in-intervention is hereby GRANTED. The Certificate of Registration of Samahang United Workers of Citra Mina Group of Companies (UWCMGCU) No. XII-GSC-07-2013-001 issued on July 2013 is revoked. The respondent union is delisted from the roster labor unions and divested of its rights and privileges as legitimate union.

The Respondent-Appellant UWCMGC was given chance with-in five (5) days period to response  for DOLE Arbiter to appeal of this labor dispute case.

In closing, let it be stated once more that the right of the people, including those employed in the public and private sector, to form unions, associations or societies for the purpose not contrary to law shall not be abridged. 16 The State guarantees the right of all workers to self-organization, collective bargaining and negotiation, and peaceful concerted activities, including the right to strike in accordance with law. 17

WHEREFORE, the Motion for Reconsideration herein treated as an Appeal is hereby GRANTED and SET ASIDE.

The Samahang United Workers of Citra Mina Group of Companies Union (UMCMGCU) with Certificate of Registration No. XII-GSC-07-2013-001 shall remain in the roster of legitimate labor organization with all the rights and privileges appurtenant thereto.

General Santos City (ABSDAMAHAN’S - STREAM NEWS TV and Mindanao Expose’ News/ May 29, 2014) – Mayor Ronnel Rivera delivered his short message during the fellowship night and bonding night with Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon of Sarangani, Local Officials of GenSan City, PNP Chief Supt. Lesler Camba,PNP Officials and Tri-Media Association of General Santos City at Camp Fermin Lira Headquarter this city.

The next activity of “Siglakas” and fellowship night this will be on September 2014, Rivera has promised to the fellowship group.

Mayor Rivera said, he thanks local officials, PNP, law enforcers and media who all the ways supporting him for his administration, Mayor River said. He made an assurance publicly, he will supports PNP and other the law enforcers for the maintenance of peace and order of General Santos City. He is positive said, the local government and law enforcers including AFP and media will work together harmoniously for the development of the city. Rivera added, “For the past few months, there is a signed of peace and order improvement of the city now”. But, on negative side, the wariness of the conservative group of GenSan is the increased of the single Mom and also teenage pregnant surrounding the city and the increased of HIV-infected cases of the city. 

Another negative side of effect for the prospect of investors coming to Mindanao. “Because we are from Mindanao, the impression of investors is so negative towards the region, who doesn’t know Mindanao”. Rivera said.

For the positive side, Mayor Rivera has its own plan for the updating of the city Comprehensive Land Used Plan (CLUP) - By laws all LGU is mandating to prepare and submitted CLUP to national office.

Mayor Rivera has some good point’s agenda in his local administration particularly on peace, security and development. He also discussed the expansion of the city in terms of economic and development as we seen now on the expansion of the road projects within city and somewhere else of GenSan. Rivera has in mind GenSan should have it showcase and roadmap plans for the promotion of the city for both local and even abroad, Mayor Rivera lamented in his impromptu message to us.

With this kind of leadership Mayor Rivera has reserved in mind imagining GenSan from the status of first class city to become modern and Mega City in a couple of years. What do think Generals? Maraming projects ang GenSan ngayon.

 He made mentioned on national economic perspective of Philippine economic growth achievement for the year 2012 and year 2013 from the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) reports. 2012 growth robust 6.8% and 2013 growth of 7.2% respectively, but he has still wariness of poverty line threshold still on the ratio 25%. He is convincing local development planners to come-up with poverty reduction formula to reduce it even 15% at the end of 2016, Rivera suggested.

The SOCCSKSARGEN leg held from May 26-27, 2014 at the KCC Convention center in General Santos City, South Cotabato. The city has just re-organized its City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council for a more effective and efficient disaster management program.
the Regional IECs constitute a nationwide roadshow which began March 2014 to arm local government units(LGUs) with disaster information via science-base tools like 3D hazards maps, food, models, Project Noah website, hazard stimulation software, and mobile applications.
Provincial governors, city  and municipal mayors, disaster risk reduction and city planning officers, as well as LGU consultants are expected to attend the two days event which will focus on local hazard risks in the region

Beach Volleyball has also final results. The winner had already declared by the organizer of SarBay Fest task team. Beach Volleyball sport won by Davao team versus Gensan team in the second sets played by a veteran national player Liezel Manatad and co-team mate Cabus. Championship Trophy awarded to Davao team with the cash prize of P15,000, 1st. Runner-up team awarded to Gensan team received also Trophy together with cash prize of P10,000, and 2nd Runner-up goes to Koronadal received Trophy with the cash prize of P7,000 and the consolation prizes received each team in the amount of p2,000 respectively. Yoga and Triathlon sports are already completed, SarBay Jet Ski and Beach Football still on-going to play by the team representatives of Jet Ski sport organization from local and national team. Other sport activities are also being played by the players in the main venue at the Rosal Beach, Coco Beach and in the other beaches rent by SarBay Fest organizers and sponsors stakeholders. SarBay Zumba Dance with the Legendz had just performed led by stage Dancers followed by the group dancers in the open ground. They received gift certificates and plane trip tickets to Palawan.
